Resting in the God of the Next Generation (Psalm 145)

Community Group Discussion Questions

Helping one another love Jesus, His people, and His world.

Text:Psalm 145

Sermon Title: Resting in the God of the Next Generation

Date:10-30-2022

  1. Where in your life has Jesus shown you that He is great, good, and kind lately? When in doubt, how does the cross prove that He is all three?
  2. What particular burdens are your currently carrying for your children, grandchildren and/or other kids in “Gen Z” or “Gen Alpha”?
  3. D. L. Moody once said, "If I could relive my life, I would devote my entire ministry to reaching children for God!"  After so much “ministry success,” why do you think he said this? How do you think the Lord may use a similar commitment from each of us for the children in our church and community?

Sermon Title: Called to Be a Blessing

  1. What about Jesus and/or what He’s done for you makes you more tender -hearted and humble towards others? Explain.
  2. Craig mentioned that the attitude of brotherly love focuses less on asking “Am I included and do I feel connected?” and more on asking, “Who am I seeking to include and help feel connected?” What do you think happens to a group of people focused on the second set of questions? What happens to a group focused on the first set of questions? How can we extend this attitude toward the youth in our group and/or church?
  3. Who in your life is currently “opposing” you in some way? In what way can you seek to bless them this week? What other people in your life do you have opportunities to bless this week?
