Making disciples through the mutual ministry of redemptive relationships.

Text:Judges 4

Sermon Title: God Uses the Available
Date:February 21, 2021

  1. The Book of Judges shows us that “God repeats so that we repent.” Where else do we see this pattern in the Bible?
  2. What does this tell us about God? What does this tell us about ourselves?
  3. What specific message is the Lord repeating to you?
  4. What does repentance look like for you? In what way(s) will repentance be good and “safe” for you?
  5. How is it encouraging, or humbling, to know God uses available people, no matter how flawed or unlikely (like Deborah and Jael)? Are you available to Him?

Making disciples through the mutual ministry ofredemptive relationships.

Text: Judges 3:31
       Sermon Title: An Unlikely Hero
     Date: February 14th, 2021

  1. Read 1 Corinthians 1:26-31. Why does God call and use unlikely and unimpressive people?
  2. How are you tempted to fill in the blank and disqualify yourself from being used by God: “God can’t use me because —————-?”
  3. How does the story of Shamgar (and the rest of the Bible) challenge this thought?
  4. According to the world, it appears foolish for God to choose each of us to be His Kingdom instruments. What unlikely or unimpressive characteristic about you makes His choice seem foolish?  How may He use this particular weakness to magnify His power and glory?
  5. What other encouragement did you draw from this text this week?
