Making disciples through the mutual ministry of

redemptive relationships

Text: Hebrews 10:19-25

Sermon Title: Let Us Persevere

Date: January 12, 2020

  1. Read John 10:27-30. What does this passage say about a Christian’s eternal security? Why do you think we get warnings passages like Hebrews 10 if this is the case?
  2. Read 1 John 2:19. What actually happens when a professing believer commits apostasy?
  3. How well are you doing at counting “access” to God and an “advocate” with God as precious possessions? Do you see them more like snowfall in Texas or snowfall in Alaska (a given)? Explain.
  4. Why did Kalib say, “God is the gospel.” What do you think he means? Do you see this in the text? Do you agree or disagree?
  5. In order to make it to the end of our Christian journey, we need to give ourselves to a life of perseverance. The three practices of perseverance described in Hebrews 10:19-25 are 1) Running to God through faith (v. 22), 2) Remaining with God in Hope (v. 23), and 3) Reinforcing God’s People with love (vv. 24-25). Which of these if hardest for you to practice? Explain?
  6. In verse 23, the author says, “He who called you is faithful.” Why does this make all the difference to our practices of perseverance? In what ways do you see evidences of His faithfulness in your life? In what ways are your struggling to see His faithfulness, currently?
  7. “Let us” are two very radical words. In what areas do you think we (our group) are doing well at living the Christian life as a “Community project.” In what areas of our lives can we grow?
