Sermon Title: Seeing Ourselves Differently

Date:10-2-2022

  1. Which descriptor of a Christ follower in this text (newborn infant, living stone, chosen race) most encourages you? Most challenges you? Explain.
  2. Rob described the “pure spiritual milk” as the things of the Word that nourish Christian Community. Which ministries of the Word have nourished usthis last month? How so? How can wehelp one another craze more of this nourishment?
  3. Read verses 9-10 again: “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” What qualifies you for the purpose of “proclaiming His excellencies?” Why does that matter? Further, why is it important to note that this purpose (or calling) is not mainly given to an induvial, but to a community?
