From Him and To Him
or who has been his counselor?”
“Or who has given a gift to him
that he might be repaid?”
Ephesians 2:4-7 says:
"But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus."
As we embark on a new sermon series, "A Generous Life", we first need to remind ourselves of something: We have a generous God. Our heavenly Father, because of his mercy and grace, showers countless blessings on his children. He does not do so because we have earned such blessings. He does not do to incentivize us to pay back these riches. He does so to reveal his character, to shine the spotlight on his glory. He does so because he loves us with an indescribably unmerited love.
The single greatest example of this love is on display in John 3:16-17:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."
So, this Sunday, we're going to celebrate the generous love of God, and (through celebrating communion together) we're going to remember the death of Jesus , where that love was poured out and put on display for all to see. Here are the songs and Scriptures for our service this Sunday:
We're excited to come together to praise the Lord and remind one another of his goodness, kindness, and sacrificial love!
