Making disciples through the mutual ministry of

redemptive relationships

Text: John 15:12-17

Sermon Title:The Fruitful Life

Date: May 5, 2019

  1. Read Ephesians 2:8-10. What does this passage say about your identity? What does it say about your purpose?
  2. John 15 says that as a child of God, you are: in Christ, God’s friend, chosen by Him, sent by Him on mission to bear fruit, and that He will answer you and provide for you as you press into this calling. Do you see yourself this way? How would your life look different if you more fully embraced this reality about your identity in Christ?
  3. Who (one person) has God already placed in your life to lay down your life for (spouse, child, friend, family member)? How can you love them (lay your life down for them) this week?
  4. Who is one person that God is sending you to lay down your life for (family member, church member, neighbor, co-worker, roommate, etc.)? How, specifically, can you show preference to that person this week?

Text: John 15:1-11

    Sermon Title:The Fruitful Life

Date: April 28, 2019

  1. Read Psalm 1 and Psalm 125. What two categories do these psalms put all of humanity into? What makes the difference between being identified in one category vs. the other?
  2. How does seeing your current challenge(s) as God pruning you to produce fruit in your life change your perspective of your trial?
  3. What fruit do you think He is producing or will produce through it?
  4. In your own words, what is abiding in Christ?
  5. In what ways have you tried to “tie bananas to the tree trunk” (manufacture spiritual fruit in your life detached from an abiding relationship with Christ)?
  6. In what ways is your Bible reading helping or not helping you abide in Christ?
