  1. What person’s trust in Gods goodness and/or reliance on God’s word though suffering have you personally witnessed? What good or joy has this given you? Explain.
  2. Tell us about a hard time in your past and how has the Lord has used it to change you.
  3. Read Romans 5:2-5, 1 Peter 4:12-19 and James 1:2-4. What take always about God’s purpose(s) for suffering do you observe?
  4. Two weeks ago, Craig mentioned that one reason we don't delight in God’s word is that we don't connect it to the Word, Jesus. How does this text connect us to Jesus? In other words, how does Jesus fulfill these stanzas specifically? What difference does this connection to Jesus make to your engagement of these verses??
  5. What affliction (s) are you currently experiencing (financial, health, relational, spiritual, grief, disappointment, your past, etc.)?
  • What is this affliction revealing about you that would not have been revealed otherwise?
  • In what way(s) do you observe the Lord using this affliction to bring you to Himself and/or His Word? If you can’t see the Lord moving in your affliction, please share about this with us.
  1. In what ways might you continue to learn from a person or people who have walked through suffering? What specific next step will you take to become their student?
  2. Which one of these prayers in Psalm 119 (v. 66, v. 73, v. 76, v. 77, v. 78, v. 80) do you feel most moved to pray right now? Why?
