Sermon Title: In His Image
Date: June 7, 2020
- In Psalm 139, David tells God, “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” With what sort of conviction are you able to repeat this prayer to God concerning yourself? How would this be different if the color of your skin changed? How about your gender? Class? Occupation? Explain.
- What is it like for you to talk about the topic of racism? (Do you find yourself defensive? Anxious? Confused? Angry? Depressed? Ashamed? Guilty? Eager?, ect.) Explain.
- In what way(s) do you find yourself tempted toward racism yourself? How do you think the reality of the image of God, more, the gospel, can aid your fight against it in your own heart?
- As Christians, we must be concerned to do whatever we can to foster the flourishing of all people and not solely our own flourishing. What platform(s) or resources has God given you to help others flourish? Who in your life could you help better flourish using these means?
