- Read John 4:34. The verse reveals Jesus’ heart attitude toward obedience. In what ways was God’s will like food to Him?
- Prayer is “about making God’s concerns our concerns, his agenda our agenda...It’s about getting us on God’s side rather than getting God to our side” What about this is helpful? What about this is challenging?
- What are you most prone to: “trying to make God do my will (a.k.a., (magic),” or “faith-less-ness, disguised as a resignation to ‘your will be done’ (prayer-less-ness)? How does this impact your prayers?
- What biblical command or teaching (His reveled will) do you want God’s help to understand and obey?
- In what area of your life do you need God’s help to trust His secret will?
- “Our security and our rest today is not that we will obey his revealed will and trust him with his secret will. No, our security today is that though we have repeatedly placed our will above his, Jesus faithfully submitted himself to his Father’s will and paid the ultimate price so that we might be forgiven and be joined to his people. What hope or encouragement does this “news” give you, today?
