How is the way Moses responds to God’s calling for him to participate in God’s mission of deliverance similar to Gideon’s (Exodus 3-4)? What’s similar about God’s calling? What does this tell us about God? About ourselves?
- Where does our culture tell us to look for hope and happiness, significance and security? In what ways is the cultural message communicated to you?
- In what way(s) are you faithfully resisting this cultural message? In what way(s) have you been buying in to it and compromising?
- By observing a normal day in your life, how would others perceive your resistance and/or compromise from observing a normal day in your life? How would your ongoing fears and anxieties support these perceptions?
- How does the knowledge that God is acting in grace even before we turn back to Him motivate you to repent and listen to Him instead of the messages of our culture?
