Community Group Discussion Questions

Helping one another love Jesus, His people, and His world.

Text: Acts 2:1-13

Sermon Title: When the Spirit Comes

Date: 10-1-2023

Loving Jesus

  1. How does Pentecost demonstrate that God keeps His promises? In what way do you need to remember this truth today?*

Loving His People

  1. How do the images of wind and fire excite you about the reality that you are indwelled by the same Spirit?*
  2. How can you grow into confident trust in the goodness of His power in you? How can we pray for you here?

 Loving His World

  1. The apostles waited to begin their ministry until after they had been filled with the Holy Spirit…and they immediately began it. Are you someone who tends to seek to minister in your own strength rather than the Spirit’s or tends not to minister at all because you forget you have the Spirit?*

Supernatural Power for a Supernatural Mission (Acts 1:1-11)

Community Group Discussion Questions

Helping one another love Jesus, His people, and His world.

Text:Acts 1:1-11

Sermon Title: Supernatural Power for a Supernatural Mission

Date:9-24-2023

Loving Jesus

  1. Given that Spirit empowers mission, how aware have you been for your need for His power in your life as of late? How does this compare to your consciousness of the availability of His power for you?

Loving His People

  1. Craig argued from this text that, “Jesus is actively present…Acts shows the continuing ministry of the Lord Jesus throughhis people and the conclusion is open ended. He is still doing and teaching. Jesus is teaching us through the Scripture and he is doing his will acting by his Spirit throughhis people.” What does this mean about our relationships and group/church meetings?
  2. Does this reality more reinforce or more correct the way you have been relating to our group/church? Explain.

Loving His World

  1. Given that this text proclaims that “mission means movement”, and that “the Spirit empowers witness to people who are very different,” why do you think Acts is a good book to learn to love cross-culturally from? What excites you about studying the book? What concerns you?
